Biography

Native of New Orleans, LA. A graduate of Jesuit High School, Magna Cum laude, 1988. National Merit Finalist Scholar at The George Washington University, BA Economics 1992. President of Students for Solidarity and Democracy in Eastern Europe, 1989-1992. U.S. Delegate to the International Pro-Democracy Student Congress in Warsaw, Poland, 1990. Scholarship Chairman and Founding Member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Delta Alpha Chapter, 1989-1992. Tulane Law School, Juris Doctor, 1996. Judicial Extern to Honorable Miriam Waltzer, LA Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Assistant District Attorney, New Orleans, 1997-98. Associate attorney, Hailey McNamara Hall Larmann, & Papale, 1998-2001. Plaintiff trial attorney, 2001-present. Admitted to practice in Louisiana, the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Eastern, Middle and Western District Courts of Louisiana. Mr. Kelly has 16 years of litigation experience, including more than 30 jury trials. He has handled the successful prosecution of numerous multi-million dollar civil cases, to include obtaining a $17 million verdict in the landmark Louisiana case of Schreiber v. JCC and a $3.25 million verdict in Hampton v. Nix, both personal injury claims in Civil District Court in New Orleans. (See list of recent cases)

In addition to his practice in personal injury law, Mr. Kelly has represented hundreds of homeowners and businesses for property and income losses they sustained as a result of hurricanes, helping them to get millions of needed dollars for home and business repairs and to replace their lost revenues. He places special focus on both his personal injury practice and insurance claims practice on obtaining maximum recovery for clients’ loss of income and earning capacity. Utilizing his educational background in economics, Mr. Kelly frequently works with a team of experts to project income trends and growth potential to account for the maximum potential loss to the client.

Alvendia, Kelly & Demarest, LLC  has successfully represented hundreds of clients in serious personal injury cases involving auto accidents, 18 wheeler accidents, wrongful death, premise liability, toxic exposure, maritime personal injury, and workers compensation.

The Firm’s members hold seats on the Plaintiff’s Steering Committees in several Class Action Cases pending in Louisiana, representing many thousands of class members, to include: children poisoned by lead paint in local housing projects, former teachers employed by the Orleans Parish School Board who were wrongfully terminated after Hurricane Katrina, and patients and employees of several New Orleans hospitals which failed to timely evacuate patients for Hurricane Katrina.[/lex_dropcap]
